Rat Pack meets Bollywood at Mayflower Hotel

Mayflower Hotel, Washington, DC

Highlights. Sonia and Christopher wanted a fusion wedding that highlighted both of their backgrounds, from the food, to the ceremony, to the clothing, music and decor. Both sides of the families really embraced the fusion concept, combining the vibrancy of the Indian culture with a classic Washington, DC vibe. For the Mehendi Party the day before the wedding, we used many vibrant colors in an “Indian blowout” complete with singing, Indian and Contemporary Jazz dancing, and henna. Sonia designed the wedding reception gown she wore herself, with a nod to both cultures, by combining Indian embroidery on a more classic western trumpet silhouette. The ceremony was a combined Hindu (performed by a Hindu priest) and Christian (performed by a reverend) ceremony under a regal mandap. For the wedding reception, we designed with a timeless romantic aesthetic, with two tablescape designs using navy blue, gold, blush pinks and ivory.
